Medicinal
plants have great importance in primary health care needs. Among the many of
the medicinal plants Costus Speciosus
is one of the important plant to cure diabetes. Many of the pharmacological
activities like hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, antidiuretic, antimicrobial,
analgesic, antioxidant,etc., are exhibited by this plant.Most of the people consuming
fresh leaves of the plant for the treatment of diabetes. Hence, the present
research aimed to analyze the metals present in the leaves of the Costus Speciosus. The obtained results
revealed that the plant consisting of K, Ca, Fe, P, S and Mn were within the
limits. Hence, the plant was considered to be safe to consume or for the herbal
drug formulation.
